1. Why was the Foundation formed?
The Foundation was formed to provide a vehicle to receive tax-exempt donations and planned gifts for designated projects and programs. While SHS graduates have benefited from the extraordinary generosity of alumni and community members through the Scholarship Program, the Foundation is seeking to enrich every student’s educational experience through enhanced opportunities in an improved facility.
2. Who decides what projects will be supported by the Foundation?
The SHS administrators work in collaboration with the School Board to recommend projects that will be supported by the Foundation.
3. What are the administrative costs for the Foundation?
Recognized as a component unit of the high school, the Foundation’s administrative functions are managed by the Supervisory Union Business Office. Expenses directly associated with fund-raising activities are paid by the Foundation.
4. Does the Foundation accept ‘scholarship’ bequests?
Scholarship donations’ and/or bequests’ funds are allocated to qualified individuals for higher education, which should be sent directly to Spaulding High School. The SHS Business Office, in conjunction with the Scholarship Investment Committee, and the Scholarship Awards Committee, oversees the management of all scholarship funds. What the Foundation seeks is Academic Enhancement funds for improving the academic potential and leadership of students that are enrolled in SHS during their Sophomore through Senior years.
